VIDEO ESSAY: THINK SMALLER – HOW TO SAVE MAINSTREAM CINEMA

Quick Cut

In this video essay, I present an edited version of Steven Soderbergh’s 2013 ‘State of the Cinema’ address to the San Francisco Film Festival. I use the skeleton of his argument to make the case for the studios to rethink their approach to the mainstream Hollywood film, advising them to reduce budgets and move away from massive tentpole features.
